From 27 February 2026, cross-brand access between the nextbike Lower Austria and WienMobil Rad systems will change – here you will find all the important information you need to continue travelling flexibly in both regions.

Important information for WienMobil Rad (WMR) customers

  • I have been riding in Lower Austria with my WienMobil Rad account. What do I need to do now?

From 27 February 2026, you will need to register for a separate nextbike Lower Austria account to cycle in Lower Austria. Your Vienna login will no longer be recognised there from this date onwards. We recommend that you re-register as soon as possible via the website Bikesharing in Lower Austria | nextbike or directly in the nextbike app (select Lower Austria account).

  • Note for commuters from Vienna to Lower Austria:

If you have previously used your WienMobil Rad account in the nextbike app to cycle in St. Pölten or other towns/municipalities in Lower Austria, please note: In future, you will only be able to unlock and use bikes in Lower Austria in the app if you have an active nextbike Lower Austria account. Without this second account, you will not be able to start or continue your journey in Lower Austria. You can set up your Lower Austria account in the nextbike app.

  • What happens at the city limits (Liesing and Hütteldorf)?

The ‘twin stations’ will remain as before. Here you can end your ride with your WienMobil Rad account. To continue your ride with a nextbike NÖ, you must be logged into your Lower Austria account in the app. These stations continue to be your best hop-on/hop-off options when switching between Vienna and Lower Austria.

  • Can I still use my WienMobil Rad account in other cities? Yes, of course!

The change only affects the system in Lower Austria. In all other nextbike cities (such as Innsbruck, Klagenfurt, Eisenstadt or even internationally), you can continue to use your WienMobil Rad account as usual.

Changes for nextbike Lower Austria customers

  • I already have a nextbike Lower Austria account. Do I need to do anything?

No. Everything will remain the same for you. You can continue to use the bikes in Lower Austria as before with your existing account.

However, if you want to use a WienMobil bike in Vienna, for example, you will need a WienMobil bike account in future. You can set this up in the nextbike app.

  • What will change in terms of access to the nextbike system?

Until now, users of other brands (such as WienMobil Rad) have also been able to use the system in Lower Austria. This option will be discontinued on 27 February 2026. In future, users will need their own Lower Austria account. You can create one at any time at Bikesharing in Lower Austria | nextbike or in the nextbike app.

  • What applies at the city limits of Vienna (Liesing and Hütteldorf)? Bikes from both brands will continue to be available at the twin stations. You can end your ride there with nextbike NÖ. If you want to continue your journey with a WienMobil bike, you must be logged into your WienMobil bike account in the app. It will therefore still be possible to switch between the systems at these stations as before.
  • Is my Lower Austria account also valid in Vienna?

No. To ride a WienMobil Rad, you still need to register directly with a Lower Austria account. The two systems each require a separate account in the nextbike app.
